Roaming and Travel

Mobile Roaming costs and the Roaming SIM

Using a mobile phone outside of your own country is known as roaming, and it is expensive. You pay a connection fee and far higher call fees to make calls and also pay to recive calls. Voice mail becomes a large cost not a benefit, particualry with call back services.

The European Union has recently passed new rules on roaming charges, however while these fix rates within the EU they do not help in the rest of the world and will drive contract changes that will in all likleyhood cost the consumer more for other services.

One way to reduce mobile call costs when you travel is to use a roaming SIM. A replacement SIM card with specially agreed international rates. WIth many roming SIM cards you recieve free incomming calls when you are abroad and make large savings on calls and texts that you make in comparison to your networks charges - often saving over 50%.
